《星际争霸外传中文剧情》

  【1、前兆(Precursor Campaign)】

  〔译注:这是星际争霸的一个类似“引子”的官方资料篇,在官网上下载,一共分为六关。)

  下载后,将文件解压后,把文件夹放到游戏的“map”文件夹下,然后进入星际争霸游戏,选择“Single Player”→“Play Custom”,进入campaign文件夹,便可以见到新加入的文件夹。把它打开,将游戏方式设置为“Use Map Settings”,从编号为“00”的地图开始打起即可。

  这个资料篇类似“练习关”,极其简单。本作可以看作星际争霸的第0章,其时间是2499年11月,即游戏第I章(星际争霸的Terran剧情)的一个月之前,讲述当时在Chau Sara上发生的事情。暴雪最早应该是想用这个来做游戏的练习关的,但不知为何没有放在游戏里,后来才放出了下载。〕

  (一)“新兵训练营”

  联邦营地

  任务目标:建造三个补给站

  建造一个瓦斯提炼厂

  采集100瓦斯

  简报——

  副官:欢迎来到Chau Sara,上尉。Duke将军为训练Alpha中队的所有新人指挥官,命令进行一场野外演习。演习场地已经准备完毕,如果您没有别的问题,那么就开始演习吧。

  副官:想开始演习,请按“Start”。您可以选择“Skip Tutorial”以跳过演习。

  副官:如果您觉得自己准备好了,那么请按“Start”。只要您没有问题,无论什么时候都可以。

  副官:上尉?您了解了吗?

  关卡中剧情——

  开始时

  副官:T-280SCV是在严酷环境中建设建筑和采集资源的基础。

  SCV:遵命!

  副官:为了建设繁荣的殖民地,您需要更多的SCV。在指挥中心里您能制造更多的SCV。

  副官:想要配备更多的人员,您必须有足够的补给站,给他们提供充分保障。

  副官:您可以用SCV来建设补给站。

  副官:我们储存的矿物快要用完了。

  副官:请选择SCV来采集更多矿物。

  副官:这些蓝色的水晶就是矿物来源。请用SCV来采集它们。

  副官:上尉,这个基地已经开始运作了。请接着完成新的任务。

  副官:瓦斯计数器已启动。在瓦斯提炼厂里提炼出来的瓦斯,可以由SCV进行收集。

  副官:野外演习结束。殖民地的外交阅兵式将在一小时后开始。

  任务目标:摧毁叛军基地

  简报——

  副官:副官,已连线。我们已进入Chau Sara的近星轨道,准备在行星上降落。正在接收通讯……

  Collins总督:上尉,看来你已经到了。正如你所知道的,这几个月来,自称为Korhal之子的叛乱军在各边疆殖民地,进行了许多有损于联邦威信的活动。他们现在也到了Chau Sara上。我认为民兵对付不了他们,这就是把你们Alpha中队叫来的原因。不需要收俘虏,上尉,你明白这意思吧?我希望问题能得到一劳永逸的解决。——那么,好好狩猎吧!

  关卡中剧情——

  开始时

  陆战队员:长官,能允许我自由发言吗?我不确定您知不知道您在干什么,如果你想送我们到一个未知的区域并希望我们自我防御的话,请使用A键,如果你希望我们忽视敌人的话,直接在目的地按右键即可。

  在侦察过程中,你遇到了一些“未知生命体”

  陆战队员:长官,我们被攻击了!操他娘的,我找不到这些怪物的识别信息!

  Collins总督:不管是什么玩意,统统都给我灭了!上尉!这是我的命令!

  这时,战场上出现了一支精锐的联邦小分队

  地狱犬部队指挥官:这里是特种侦察部队“地狱犬”(Cerberus)。我们被派遣到本殖民地,任务是对这些未知生命体的消灭进行监督,并防止它们继续侵蚀这个殖民地。

  Collins总督:我怎么不知道?联邦司令部事先没跟我说过——

  地狱犬部队指挥官:我们是单独领受命令的,总督,没有回答你的必要。我们将参与这次作战。

  (三)“鞭笞”

  任务目标:带两个地狱犬部队的喷火兵到建筑入口处

  简报——

  副官:正在接收通讯……

  Collins总督:再次祝贺你,上尉。我知道你对于那些生物的出现,迫切地想要一个答复。我只能说,我们正着重对它们进行研究;现在,那些生物已经被隔离起来接受检查。但是我们的科学家刚开始实验,和研究部门的联络就中断了。

  地狱犬部队指挥官:那里好象遇到了什么危险。首先必须试探性地进攻一下,扫清分布在这个地区的敌对生物;我们地狱犬部队的队员会掌握情况,为此也需要Alpha中队的支援。至于别的情报,必要的时候你会知道的。

  关卡中剧情——

  开始时

  陆战队员:如果遇到危险,可以在碉堡中进行防御。

  当哥利亚机甲受伤后

  机甲驾驶员:上尉,我建议让SCV来进行修理。

  当喷火兵到达目标点之后

  喷火兵:长官,战术班已到达指定位置。请您在外面守着,我们去里面察看情况。

  (四)“兽之巢穴”

  联邦营地

  Chau Sara

  23:45SCT,11.08.2499

  任务目标:确认科学家们的位置

  至少使一个科学家活着回到入口

  简报——

  地狱犬部队指挥官:上尉,我们连上了这里的生命探测仪主机,发现还有一些联邦的科学家滞留在这里。

  Collins总督:什么?要连上那里的设施,必须有我的密码!你们是怎么跳过我的保密措施的?

  地狱犬部队指挥官:我跟你说过吧,总督,我没有回答你的必要。我们必须进入建筑内,帮助联邦的人员撤离。——出动吧,先生们。我们的时间很紧。

  关卡中剧情——

  你来到不远处的一个房间里,看到了那些科学家的位置

  副官:隐藏摄影机已启动。

  前进了一段距离之后,你遭到“未知生命体”的夹击。

  地狱犬部队指挥官:注意自己后面;这里到处都是未知生命体。

  你走到一扇锁着的门前,里面是几个陆战队员。

  陆战队员:嘿!他们一定是来救我们的。把门打开!

  打开门之后,陆战队员加入了你的队伍。

  陆战队员:防卫系统已经全部打开,你们要小心了。

  你在一个房间里发现了一名落单的陆战队员

  勇敢的陆战队员:哈……这个房间是安全的,长官!

  再往前走,你看见一个房间前守着几个陆战队员,房间里是一群“未知生命体”

  陆战队员:快走,它们都被关在里面了。

  陆战队员:小心!

  你又连上一台计算机,发现建筑最深处还有几个陆战队员。

  陆战队员:我们被敌人堵在里面了。快来援救!

  你终于接近了科学家们躲藏的房间。

  科学家:等等!别开那门……

  话音未落,几个“未知生命体”就冲了进来,你赶紧把它们杀光。

  救出科学家后,“未知生命体”突然开始从各处冒出来。你顺便又救出了最深处的那几个陆战队员。

  陆战队员:让我们上!

  你且战且走,终于掩护科学家们回到了入口处。

  科学家:好了,走吧!

  任务完成

  (五)“武器之力”

  联邦营地

  Chau Sara

  任务目标:毁灭未知生命体的蔓生地

  Duke必须存活

  简报——

  地狱犬部队指挥官:上尉,科学家们已经安置在我们的基地。他们认为,他们的发现有助我们在未知生命体的影响进一步扩大前打败它们。

  副官:接到殖民地总督府来的紧急联络。

  Collins总督:Los Andares市刚刚遭到未知生命体大军的袭击,陷落了。Duke将军将会亲自协助你夺回城市。祝你好运,上尉,Los Andares市和联邦就全靠你了。

  (六)“歼灭”

  任务目标:铲除未知生命体

  Duke必须存活

  简报——

  Collins总督:干得好,上尉。我希望殖民地的官吏们都能再多一些像你这样坚韧不拔的精神。不过,我们现在需要一个强固的防御计划。我会跟我的顾问商量一下,我认为,如果可以确保附近地区的安全,我们就能——

  地狱犬部队指挥官:没那个时间了,总督。根据我们的情报,那些未知生命体的总攻马上就要开始了。——上尉,由你来指挥作战。

  Collins总督:你凭什么?我可是这殖民地的总督耶!我命令……

  地狱犬部队指挥官:根据殖民地危机法第1602条的补充条款,在此事件的处理上我将取代你的职权。上尉,作战开始。

  关卡中剧情——

  当你消灭了所有“未知生命体”之后

  副官:正在接收通讯……

  地狱犬部队指挥官:上尉,根据联邦高层的命令,与这些生命体相关的一切事项均为第7级的机密。它们在Chau Sara出现的事情不要告诉任何人。如果你们不能遵守,那你们很快就会从这世界上消失了。刚才的对话不存在。我们也从未来过这里。

  【二、奴役者(Enslavers)】

  〔译注:这是星际争霸游戏内自带的一个官方资料篇,一共分为五关。进入游戏后(无论星际争霸或母巢之战),选择“Single Player”→“Play Custom”,然后进入campaign文件夹,将游戏方式设置为“Use Map Settings”,从编号为“01”的地图开始打起即可。

  这个资料篇相当于星际争霸的一个外传,以Terran的视角进行。本资料篇的剧情与游戏主线没有什么关系,可以看作从另一个角度完善世界观的故事;虽然现在玩家们对星际争霸的热情已几近消退,但在遥遥无期的“幽灵”乃至星际争霸II推出之前,以前没有注意过这个资料篇、或者玩过而未明其意的星际爱好者还是可以一试的。

  又,此资料篇尚有一个续作“Enslavers:Dark Vengeance”(奴役者:暗之复仇),见下文。〕

  (一)“Schezar的清道夫”

  任务目标:找到Schezar的基地

  消灭本地区的所有Zerg

  简报——

  Mengsk皇帝:指挥官,我要交给你一项重要的任务。那恶名昭彰的海盗,Alan Schezar,最近又出现了。他好象又在策划什么阴谋。我希望你去他出没的地方,查明他的企图。他的私人军队和他一样诡计多端,你要多加注意。啊,还有,情报部门发现该地区也有Zerg活动的迹象。如果你遇到它们,可以根据自己的判断使用武力还击。

  关卡中剧情——

  你一直向前推进,发现一个被感染的指挥中心

  Mengsk:什么!这……Zerg已经蔓延到整个城市里了!可谁都没有做什么!Schezar简直是疯了!

  毁掉被感染的指挥中心后,你继续推进,终于在Zerg防线后面发现了Schezer的基地

  Mengsk:指挥官,我们终于发现了Schezar的基地。那些孢子塔好象正在保护着它……他到底想干什么!

  任务完成

  (二a)“玩火”

  任务目标:违反命令,先救援Protoss部队

  或

  不理会Protoss,集中力量杀死脑虫

  (你的选择将会影响到之后的剧情发展。如果救援Protoss部队的话,过关后将进入2b和3b的剧情,反之将进入3a的剧情。)

  无论如何,Kazansky和Magellan必须存活

  简报——

  Mengsk皇帝:指挥官,发生了一些问题。根据情报部门的报告,我们破坏的并不是Schezer的本部基地。我们的卫星照片显示,东南方向有一个受到严密守护的基地,而且,难以置信的是,一只Zerg的脑虫也在附近。Schezer似乎发现了操纵那些生物来为自己作战的方法。很明显,这不是一个二流走私犯能做得到的。我命令你坚决地攻击Schezer饲养的脑虫,并将其部队歼灭。

  Mengsk:为了支援你的作战,我给你调拨两名有能力的士官。首先介绍一下,这位是Tom Kazansky,全舰队最优秀的幽灵战机驾驶员。

  Kazansky:您的大名我早有耳闻,指挥官。我早就盼望着能与您共事了。

  Mengsk:另一位是Magellan,生化改造人,只听从他最信任的上司。他是Terran领土上最富科学精神的一个人。

  Magellan:幸会,指挥官。我接收到了一通超波形传输信号……现在解读出来。

  Mojo:Terran的指挥官,我是Mojo,Aiur的Protoss行政官。我不幸被Alan Schezar率领的那群Terran罪犯俘虏,现在需要你们的援救。不要攻击脑虫!如果杀死了它,它的部下就会失去控制,发狂地攻击我们所有的部队,而你们的敌人只要再找一个脑虫并控制它就可以了。但如果你能够解救我和我的兄弟的话,我们就将借给你们能将那疯狂终结的力量。

  Mengsk:别理他,指挥官。我命令你,把Zerg的脑虫杀死。等危险过去之后,再去解救那些Protoss也不迟。

  关卡中剧情——

  你违反Mengsk皇帝的命令,先去救出了被囚的Protoss部队

  你没有理会Protoss的求援,经过一番苦战,终于杀死了脑虫

  Mengsk:指挥官,脑虫已经死了。但是Schezar并不在这里。我们得继续——

  Mojo:蠢货!你们要找的Schezar正在往Aiur去的路上!一旦他到了,为了能支配更多的脑虫,就必然需要我们那神圣的Khaydarin护身符的力量。你会把我们都毁了的!

  任务完成

  (二b)“救出”

  任务目标:救出Mojo、Danimoth、Warbringer

  所有英雄必须存活

  简报——

  Mojo:感谢你的援救,指挥官。我明白你这么做是担了很大风险的。Schezar把我、Danimoth和Warbringer都封在禁锢牢中,但我可以用精神力与你们交谈。即使是现在,Schezar也正在谋划着支配更多的脑虫。请你解救我和我的同胞,然后我们就能一起攻向他在Aiur的据点,在那里将他埋葬!

  关卡中剧情——

  救出Mojo后

  Mojo:感谢你的援救,指挥官。我一定会报答的。

  救出Warbringer后

  Mojo:指挥官,我们发现了Warbringer。他看上去平安无事。

  救出Danimoth后

  Mojo:Danimoth被救出来了。所有舰员看上去都很好。

  (三a)“进击Aiur”

  任务目标:摧毁神殿

  清剿Schezar的部队

  所有英雄必须存活

  简报——

  Mengsk皇帝:脑虫被打倒了。你干得很出色,指挥官。这样,消灭Schezar和他的同党应该就很容易了……

  Aldaris:Terran的指挥官,你竟然把我们的兄弟抛弃在那些罪犯手里,不管不顾?最高议会已经知道了你们所做的一切,并决定对你们处以死刑。现在赶紧投降!或者说,你们更想在痛苦中死去呢?

  Mengsk:投降?别胡扯了。只有靠你们Protoss的力量,Schezar才能控制脑虫。他现在来到Aiur,也是为了夺取你们的神殿,以获得控制脑虫的技术。我们必须毁灭他们,还有那座神殿。

  Aldaris:很好,指挥官。最高议会不把一切Terran从Aiur的地面上抹去,是不会甘休的。我们决不……

  Mengsk:切断通话。——这些家伙就不能安静一点吗?指挥官,Protoss似乎决意与我们为敌。我现在命令你,破坏他们的神殿。如果神殿被毁,Protoss就不能再召唤他们的援军了。然后,我们再剿除Schezar和他的同党。记住,指挥官,我们全靠你了。

  关卡中剧情——

  你破坏了神殿

  副官:次元空间开始紊乱。Protoss最重要的神殿被毁之后,他们就没有什么威胁了。现在他们已经不能向这里传送援军了。

  (三b)“最后一击”

  任务目标:消灭脑虫

  清剿Schezar的部队

  所有英雄必须存活

  简报——

  Mojo:感谢你的援救,指挥官。我和我的兄弟们现在已经自由了,我们将帮助你们。Schezar在古代的Protoss要塞遗迹中建立了他的基地,他还在基地西方,我们的神殿里发现了古代的技术,使他的Ghost可以在精神上支配Zerg的脑虫。我们必须干掉他,还有他那只宠物脑虫!

  Magellan:我在Schezar基地周围探测的时候,发现了一只从未见过的Zerg。这种Zerg很可能与雷兽有亲缘关系,但却更加强大……

  Mojo:那一定是Torrasque!情况比我料想的更加严重。我也只是听说过这种强大的怪兽,但已经有很多我们的兄弟在它的强力下丧生。传说,即使打倒了Torrasque,它也会立即在虫巢里复活,再度攻击它的敌人。(-___-懂D&D的人都知道这是什么意思吧……这太能Kuso了……)

  Kazansky:Magellan,有办法彻底干掉那个Torrasque吗?

  Magellan:Torrasque和脑虫有着相同的遗传特征。我想,如果把脑虫干掉,Torrasque就不再构成威胁了。

  Mojo:太好了!这就是关键,指挥官。我们必须首先打倒脑虫。没有了Torrasque守护,我们就能跟Schezar好好地算帐了。

  关卡中剧情——

  Torrasque逼近你的基地

  Magellan:Torrasque进入视线范围。请作好防御准备。

  暂时打倒Torrasque之后

  Magellan:Torrasque被打倒了,指挥官。我估计它用不了几分钟就会复活。

  〔PS:我见到的各种资料对Terran帝国这场小规模“剿匪”行动的时间说法不一,甚至有说在Zerg入侵Aiur之前,或者主宰死亡之后的;考虑到剧情中Aiur上已经有了Zerg的势力,并且Aldaris和最高议会还有着很高的权威,我认为将时间定为Zerg入侵Aiur之后、Tassadar回到Aiur之前最为恰当,即与游戏第III章的前半同时。

  Terran帝国军摧毁了Alan Schezar在Aiur上的基地,但仍然没有见到他的身影。而Schezar控制Zerg的力量又是从何而来?——接下来就是续作“Enslavers:Dark Vengeance”(奴役者:暗之复仇)的内容了……〕



  【三、奴役者:暗之复仇(Enslavers:Dark Vengeance)】

  前情提要——

  声名狼藉的海盗Alan Schezar雇佣了一群Ghost,令他们控制Zerg的脑虫及其部队,为他那邪恶的阴谋服务。在Protoss和Terran军队的努力之下,他在Aiur行星上的据点被摧毁,他的计划也归于失败;然而,Schezar本人却逃脱了制裁。

  时间飞快地过去,Zerg的主宰降临在Aiur的土地上,又很快在Protoss的愤怒中化作灰烬;从地球千里迢迢而来的UED远征舰队敲响了Terran帝国的丧钟,就在UED舰队向帝国首都Augustgrad发动总攻的同时,疲惫的Protoss们发现在他们的内部又开始泛起波澜……

  (一)“救出”

  任务目标:消灭反叛的Zerg部队

  简报——

  Zeratul:日安,执行长。我们从对虫巢的突击中生还下来了,但胜利总是伴随着代价。还有很多我们的战士滞留在Aiur上,在传送门已经破坏的现在,我们必须前往我们残破的家园,拯救那些负伤的弟兄。为了把他们安全地带回来,可以先把他们的残躯安置在龙骑士里。

  裁判长:这不是一项容易的任务,执行长。有无数反叛的Zerg正在Aiur上肆虐。你必须夺回在Zerg基地附近的三个禁锢牢,救出被封在那里的,我们的兄弟的残躯。

  Zeratul:祝你好运!执行长。愿Adun与你同在!

  关卡中剧情——

  Zerg全灭后

  出现所属不明的Protoss穿梭机!

  黑暗圣堂武士:让这些堕落的弟兄们归于虚无吧!

  仲裁者:黑暗圣堂武士开始攻击禁锢牢了。准备召唤援军!

  狂战士:你们已经被包围了。停止攻击,否则格杀勿论!

  黑暗圣堂武士:我们投降!暂时投降……

  穿梭机:我们去收容那些囚犯,执行长!……已经收容完毕,我们回Shakuras去了。

  只剩一个禁锢牢还没被破坏

  Eredas:我复活了。感谢你们!

  Eredas:我叫Eredas。我发誓永远对Aiur效忠。

  (二)“中断的审判”

  任务目标:歼灭Terran部队

  简报——

  Eredas:我因为冷冻睡眠的缘故,没能守护Aiur,实在无比悔恨。更令人不敢相信的是,失去故乡的我们,竟然和以前被我们放逐的黑暗圣堂武士联合到了一起。命运真是反复无常啊。

  Zeratul:这是一个奇妙的时代,Eredas。然而更加奇妙地,我们现在要在自己创造的和平之下,审判自己的兄弟。——Ulrezaj,你与三名同党亵渎了神圣的禁锢牢,并且杀害了其中的Protoss战士。你们的行为已经构成了对Protoss的反叛。现在你们可以为自己的罪行辩护了。

  Ulrezaj:Zeratul,所谓罪行只是你的看法。至于我,我认为杀死那些占据高位的圣堂武士是正义的行为!应该让那些Aiur的统治者尝尝被追逐、被流放的滋味!应该让他们知道我们黑暗圣堂武士所承受的伤害和痛苦!

  Zeratul:你还抱着古老的憎恨不放吗。睁开眼睛看看现实吧——

  Ulrezaj:反叛的是你!你号称是个黑暗圣堂武士,却来裁决我们的行为!

  Zeratul:这不是我个人所能裁决的。法庭的意见如何?

  裁判长:我们判决这些黑暗圣堂武士犯了杀人之罪,并构成了对我们的反叛。

  Zeratul:法庭已经作出了裁判。那么,依据我们古老的传统,对你们处以……

  狂战士卫兵:Zeratul,在峡谷中侦察到一支所属不明的庞大Terran部队!

  Zeratul:执行长,赶紧调集你的军队去峡谷。对这些叛乱分子的宣判将留到你们回来之后。

  关卡中剧情——

  开始时

  Zeratul:Ulrezaj和他的同党在你们处理完Terran的事情之前将被关在牢中。

  Eredas:您把我这老朽残躯从禁锢牢中救出,实在不胜感激。请让我在您的麾下效力。我们去峡谷里找那可怜的Terran部队吧?

  不用他去找,一支Terran部队马上攻了过来,摧毁了关押Ulrezaj等人的禁锢牢

  狂战士卫兵:监狱遭到攻击!

  狂战士卫兵:Ulrezaj和他的同党们逃走了!

  狂战士卫兵:我们遭到Terran大部队的突袭!

  (三)“天罚”

  任务目标:摧毁Schezar的指挥中心

  或

  派一个探钻器夺回Khaydarin水晶

  (你的选择将会影响到之后的剧情发展。如果夺回Khaydarin水晶的话,将会进入4a和5a的剧情,而摧毁Schezar的指挥中心后,将进入4b和5b的剧情。)

  简报——

  Zeratul:执行长,反叛的Ulrezaj和他的同党们逃脱了。但是,在他们为自己的罪行付出代价之前,我们决不罢休。而且,他们趁着逃跑时的混乱,盗走了一块神圣的Khaydarin水晶。虽然不知道他们要用水晶做什么,但我们一定要把它夺回来。——现在,请身经百战的侦察机指挥官Mojo说明一下情况。

  Mojo:Ulrezaj偷走的Khaydarin水晶会放出强烈的精神波动,循着这波动,我们发现了那些黑暗圣堂武士盗贼潜藏的地方。那些协助Ulrezaj逃亡的Terran在Korhal行星上建设了一个小规模的基地,目前还不清楚他们的主力部队隐蔽在行星的什么地方。我们在舰队前面放出了先遣的探察器,以寻找合适的着陆场。但是,肯定还会遇到不可预料的麻烦。——另外,在Terran基地的周围,有Zerg的群落在保护着它。

  Zeratul:什么?

  Mojo:这实在是讨厌的消息。看到这些Zerg的存在,我怀疑以前曾被我们惩治过的Alan Schezar又站在我们面前了。这个Terran恶棍以前就曾经利用Protoss的技术,驱使Zerg为己所用。有了Ulrezaj偷来的Khaydarin水晶,Schezar又能故技重演了。

  Zeratul:执行长,这恐怕已经不是简单的追捕逃犯的任务了。对于Ulrezaj、Schezar以及被他们控制的Zerg的联盟,在他们危害到我们的安全之前,必须把他们粉碎。赶快出发,夺回Khaydarin水晶、消除Zerg的威胁,并破坏Schezar在Korhal行星上的基地。

  Zeratul:干得好,执行长。赶紧离开这个讨厌的地方吧。Khaydarin水晶会把我们带到Ulrezaj那里去的。

  Terran基地指挥官:我们投降!我们再也不想给Schezar干下去了!只要你们能饶我们不死,什么条件我们都答应。

  Zeratul:Ulrezaj,还有那个叫Schezar的人类在哪里?

  简报——

  Zeratul:执行长,执法官中的学者们已经检查了从Korhal带回来的那块Khaydarin水晶。他们发现了可能使我们全体都走向灭亡的事情。

  高级圣堂武士:你们带回来的水晶不是Ulrezaj从Shakuras夺走的那块。Ulrezaj不知用什么办法复制了Khaydarin水晶,并在其中奇怪地融合了Zerg和黑暗圣堂武士的能量。恐怕Ulrezaj是想用这些水晶控制在Char行星的Zerg群落,以实现他那邪恶的计划。假水晶会放射出强烈的精神波动,我们可以借此找到它们的位置。

  Zeratul:要抵挡Ulrezaj或Zerg的大规模攻势,我们的兵力过于单薄。但是,在Ulrezaj使用水晶之前,必须找到假水晶,并将之破坏。黑暗执政官会带你们到那里去。黑暗执政官愤怒的精神将粉碎一切嘲笑和亵渎我们的威力的人。

  Zeratul:在正面,他的Terran·Zerg联合部队非常强大。这样,我们还有另一个危险的选择。你可以率领黑暗圣堂武士的小部队,从基地的外围缝隙中进入,谨慎地深入他的基地,然后干掉他。愿Tassadar与你同在!

  Schezar:我承认我干了很肮脏的事。但我只是为那个变态,Ulrezaj做事……他最近已经完全疯了!要是你们饶我一命,我就把我所知道的,关于他的一切事情都告诉你们!但首先得让我把Zerg安抚下来。

  Schezar:你可以拿你那生疮的屁股打赌,它们现在已经开始捕猎我了。如果能帮上点忙,我可以把我的军队给你指挥。

  Zeratul:看上去,在我们破坏Khaydarin水晶的时候,Ulrezaj和Schezar那恶魔般的计划已经进行到了第二阶段。他们在Shakuras的轨道空间站上布阵,从那里发出强烈的能量波,干扰我们的通信,并从我们行星的护盾中吸取能量。

  Ulrezaj:我希望这EMP(电磁脉冲)发射器不会引起你的不悦,强大的Zeratul。我要声明,我对你本人没有恶意,我只是希望把那些从Aiur来的愚蠢的Protoss从我们的世界中驱逐。他们存在的意义,除了给黑暗圣堂武士带来痛苦之外,什么也没有。如今我们可不能把他们抱在怀里、娇惯他们了。我发誓,在我漫长的一生中,决不会让他们的堕落污染Shakuras。

  Zeratul:我也曾经像你一样憎恨过。然而现在,我正与Aiur的兄弟们并肩作战。Ulrezaj,他们的灵魂和我们一样高贵。抛弃你的愤怒和偏见,让我们的种族最终和平地团结为一吧。

  Ulrezaj:我永远不会忘记他们使我受到的痛苦,Zeratul。这伤痕永远不会愈合。这些Protoss终究要为他们的罪行付出代价。——Schezar,开始攻击!

  Schezar:遵命,Ulrezaj阁下!EMP发射器开至最大功率!

  Zeratul:唉……看来是无法达成和解了。——执行长,率领你的军队,将EMP发射器破坏吧。根据圣堂武士的报告,EMP发射器的脉冲只有十分钟的间隔,你必须利用这段期间行动,并补充你的护盾。EMP似乎对发射场周围Ulrezaj部队的护盾没有什么影响,你要克服不利条件,直到破坏发射器为止。在攻击的间隙,护盾电池会给你很大的帮助。另外,如果发现Ulrezaj的副手Schezar,格杀勿论。他杀害了太多我们的同胞,一定要让他为自己的罪行付出同等的代价。

  关卡中剧情——

  每过10分钟

  EMP发射器启动,护盾消失

  距发射器下次启动还有10分钟

  破坏EMP发射器后

  Zeratul:EMP发射器被破坏,我们的护盾能正常工作了。然后,我们必须打倒Alan Schezar。

  杀死Schezar之后

  Zeratul:这就是Alan Schezar的末日。

  Zeratul:Schezar一死,所有的Terran就都投降了。

  Schezar:得啦,我知道我是什么货色。我不想听你的道德说教。为了逃出你们的牢狱,Ulrezaj给了我足够的报酬。他是个挺公平、挺通情达理的Protoss,只不过有一点狂热而已。但当他和他的三个同伴融合成黑暗执政官的时候,那狂热就变成了疯狂。他拿Zerg包围着我,还在我的哥利亚机甲上做手脚,我只要一反抗他,就会被立刻炸飞。很幸运,你们的人在自爆装置启动之前就把我的机甲给打趴下啦。

  Zeratul:Ulrezaj有什么企图?

  Schezar:好吧。我的任务,是把EMP发射器运到Shakuras的轨道空间站上去,Ulrezaj使用EMP发射器,可以使你们的通讯系统和护盾失效,然后他就可以在混乱中,将经过遗传改造的强化Zerg引入Shakuras。他的打算是,黑暗圣堂武士可以在隐蔽的地方藏起来,而Aiur来的圣堂武士则全都会暴露在攻击之下。我想,没有了EMP发射器,他大概会驱使他的强化Zerg直接攻入Shakuras,以完成计划的后半部分。

  Zeratul:他疯了!

  Schezar:唔,你说得对。他在他的空间站和他在Char的基地之间开设了一个传送门,源源不断地把新的Zerg送到他那里。他把过来的Zerg都带到培养场去,用扭曲过的Khaydarin水晶的力量,使这些家伙成为强化变种。这些经过黑暗圣堂武士力量强化的Zerg,即使是Shakuras上的Xel′Naga神殿也无法抵挡吧。

  Zeratul:Schezar,我信不过你。但是,我们军队的损失已经很严重了,为了阻止Ulrezaj疯狂的计划,无论什么援助都是必要的。如果你能把你的军队与我们联合起来的话,我们就可以不处死你,而只将你驱逐出境。何况,在你背叛之后,Ulrezaj也不会再把你看成朋友吧。

  Schezar:的确如此。我会协助你们进攻,然后最好是尽快离开这片该死的宙域。我可不觉得这里是个安全的地方。

  Zeratul:执行长,进攻吧。把Khaydarin水晶带回我们的基地并加以破坏。破坏水晶、使Zerg严重削弱之后,你再摧毁传送门。

  关卡中剧情——

  开始时

  Ulrezaj:Schezar,虽然我本来就没打算利用你多久,但你如今竟敢帮助我所憎恨的敌人。你的末日到了。

  Ulrezaj随即派出三名黑暗圣堂武士,暗杀了Schezar

  Schezar:Ulrezaj,你这杂种!下地狱去吧!

  陆战队员:他把我们老大给杀了!让我们干掉那个疯狂的黑暗执政官!

  Zeratul:执行长,我们的探察器探测到了五块扭曲水晶的位置。在Ulrezaj利用Zerg干出不堪设想的事情之前,你要夺回那些水晶,并破坏它们。

  当你与强化Zergling接战之后

  陆战队员:操!这家伙不是普通的Zergling啊,Bob!它是杀手!拜托,别让它们再过来了!

尾声——

  Altanis:Alan Schezar死了,而Ulrezaj疯狂的计划也在Protoss的正义前化作了泡影……恢复和平的Shakuras星球,在团结的Protoss们的努力下,一定会迎向光明的未来吧……然而,在Shakuras夕阳映照的天空彼方,疯狂的执政官Ulrezaj心中依然燃烧着对圣堂武士的憎恨……他仇恨和狂怒的火焰燃烧得比群星中的任何一颗都更加猛烈……



  【四、复活IV(Resurrection IV)】

  1、Deceptions

  Deceptions是暴雪免费发布的每月地图的一张。然而,这地图是隐藏任务:Resurrection IV的开端。

  任务开始于Kimeran神像号(Kimeran Juggernaut)。Kimeran海盗(Kimeran Pirates)的Buzan舰长和其他三个星际海盗(以幽灵特工的形式登场)讨论下一个任务的有关情况。

  这三个海盗被派前往Terran联邦的科学装置中收集情报。他们被传送到了那些科学站的货港,然后飘进了科学站,从计算机终端上下载数据。

  Kimeran海盗的科学家/技师,Velichek,在他们的莫比乌斯反应炉(Moebius reactor)上做了改进,使得他们可以隐形(cloak)更长的时间。

  Buzan警告他们不要杀任何人,这会引起警报,没有任何好处。

  其他两个海盗的名字是Manic和Twitch。第三个海盗似乎是Velichek,同时还是这艘船的技师。

  装置内部

  这些海盗入侵了计算机系统,打开了货港的第一道门,进入了室内。下一个房间有自动防御的装置向他们开火。海盗们怀疑有人知道他们进来了。

  一些被他们入侵的电脑有一些有趣的信息,比如用Protoss的龙骑士科技重铸受伤的人类,Zerg/人类基因操作,黑暗圣堂武士隐形能力的研究,以及如何把大脑的数据转移入terabyte holodrives(?)。

  这些海盗四处探索,入侵更多机器。然后他们在主研究室中找到了三个监狱细胞(Aiur Templar:proson cell,暂时这么翻译吧)。其中一个装着Zerg,另一个装着Protoss,最后一个装着一个叫做Morik的变异人。Morik告诉他们他被囚禁在这里,他们在他身上做可怕的试验。他带领他们来到了电脑终端,把他放了出来。当海盗们这么做的时候,所有的囚犯都被放了出来。

  海盗们发现他们背后的门锁死了,并且没有计算机终端。他们无路可走,打算找一名囚犯帮忙。Morik很快赶到了,不断大喊着“杀啊!”摧毁了那道门,然后他们就快速离开了。

  穿过这道门,一台计算机递交了一份文档,标题是“在疯狂的人工智能中保持纪律(Maintaining Discipline In Rampant AI)”(这台词是在恶搞电脑游戏《马拉松》)。

  之后不久,他们来到了一个巨大的坑的边上,计算机提示Protoss和Zerg的囚犯已经逃离了。

  在这个坑中,Protoss和Zerg打得不可开交。他们同样对海盗们也不怀好意。

  海盗们开始犹豫把Morik放出来是不是个好主意。Morik跑得太快了,他们追不上。现在他们把Morik跟丢了。

  传送区

  海盗们继续前进,入侵了更多计算机,然后找到了一个传送区。不幸的是这个地方由精英分子把守,比如说幽灵特工。这里的计算机有一份资料:“生物武器肢体替换科技”。

  到这时候,玩家已经没有多少地方可去了。现在可以选择找到一个隐藏的传送点(顶级机密#1),或者去那个明显的传送点。

  选择后者的话会把三个海盗船送到一个医疗区,这里的医生可以为他们恢复生命。不幸的是很快她们就没有能量了。

  屋子里最前面的三台电脑有一些有趣的信息,比如标题是“在Zerg/人类杂合试验中保留人类的精神能力”的档案,还有高级格斗训练的文件:飞天御剑流(来自《浪客剑心》)以及达尔文的“物种起源”,但我们不知道这里说的是什么物种。第四台电脑把海盗们放出去。

  现在玩家可以选择去更多的地方了。他们找到的一台电脑上有令人惊讶的文档:“通过Zerg感染手段使生物复活”。另一台显示诗寇蒂部队001哥利亚(Skullder Unit 001Goliath)的设计图。(Aiur Templar:这一段的注解都是原注。Skullder在暗黑破坏神中文版中翻译成诗寇蒂,此处同。)

  暗影海盗

  海盗们现在情况很危险,于是他们进入了通信系统并且向Buzan舰长寻求支援。Buzan通过运输装置派给了他们一个医生,还有一个暗影海盗(一个黑暗圣堂武士,游戏性)。

  竞技场

  向西前进,Kimeran海盗在一个竞技场中发现了正在战斗的Zerg和Protoss。科学站的保安盲目地向囚犯们射击。再往西走就到达了顶级机密#2。

  热区

  Kimeran海盗们继续前进,发现了一个能量补充站,这里能给他们的反应炉充能。然而这个能量站突然开始摇晃,海盗们估计是Morik干的。

  在撤离区附近的另外一个坑中,Buzan告诉海盗们有人毁坏了发射机的接收端,他没法把他们传送出去。他们不得不去西南角的船坞。

  为了到达那里,海盗们必须要穿过一系列隧道,这里有更多的Zerg和Protoss在战斗。

  在路上,他们(勉强地)看见隐形了的鬼魂战机进入了科学站,向地面上的保安开火。

  海盗们很害怕,离开了这个区域,找到了另外两个充能站。他们请求Buzan把他们传送出去,但是由于发射机的接收终端被毁,他还是无法满足他们的要求。

  海盗们确信有人知道他们进来了,但是Buzan说不可能;他相信没人可以追踪Kimeran神像号。

  在另外一系列低矮的隧道中,他们绕开了更多Protoss和Zerg囚犯,还有保安组成的军团。他们很好奇当发生爆炸的时候是什么杀死了他们。爆炸还在持续,海盗们不得不小心翼翼的前行。他们爬进了一个隧道,希望能找到通往船坞的安全之路。

  最后他们发现他们跑进了工程站。不幸的是,这里充满了电浆爆炸,海盗们无力阻止这一切的发生。

  船坞

  他们从工程站逃出来之后终于来到了船坞。Morik正在附近焦急的徘徊。当他们询问得时候Morik说科学站的能源超载不是他干的。

  当Buzan来接他们的时候自然注意到了Morik。海盗们解释说Morik是一个普通的人类,被科学家们囚禁过,然后被注入了Zerg的基因,使得他成为了被感染的Terran。

  Kimeran海盗们离开后,科学站爆炸了。海盗们担心他们被隐形的鬼魂战机追踪了……(鬼魂战机只有在能量耗尽的时候才会显形。)

  在任务的最后会根据你发现秘密的多少(包括两个顶级机密)以及潜行的成功率获得分数。(杀了太多的人会获得“Ultralisk”称号,而如果杀得很少会获得“忍者”称号。)

  各种各样的数据文件

  在电脑里你还能找到两个有趣的数据文件:“利用战列舰科技极性转化能量护盾(Polarity Shifting Energy Shields Using Battlecruiser Technology)”以及“操纵Tau粒子进入稳定轨道(Manipulating Tau Particles Into Stable Orbits)”。

  顶级机密#1

  如果他们找到了那个隐藏的传送点,就会被传进一个只有一台电脑的房间。入侵之后他们发现一个令人惊愕的信息:一个标题是“被感染的人类的后代”的数据文件。(Aiur Templar:同志们,看来Kerrigan有生育能力……)

  顶级机密#2

  在竞技场的附近,海盗们会发现一个Terran运输船,这里面会出现一个熟悉的面孔:Alexei Stukov,他已经明显被感染了。他没有看见Kimeran海盗们,然后就跑远了。

  Stukov是如何被Zerg复活的详见地图Resurrection IV。

  很多爱好者认为Stukov可能和Terran联邦在一起,科学站是他引爆的。

  当鬼魂战机们进攻的时候会显示“鬼魂战机们在互相开火”,说明战机的驾驶员也为联邦(和/或Stukov)工作。

  2、Resurrection IV

  复活IV(Resurrection IV)是一个两人的秘密关卡,只能在N64版本上的星际争霸玩到。至今在PC上还没人玩过。想要打到这个关卡,你必须不用任何秘籍将所有的战役通关,包括黑暗起源。

  Jim Raynor收到了Artanis的信息,Artanis很高兴Jim很快的就赶到了。

  他告诉Raynor说Alexei Stukov已经回来开始进行他原有的计划,这会对Terran和Protoss造成威胁。

  Jim Raynor听说过Stukov重现的传言。

  Artanis继续说道:Stukov现在已经被Zerg脑虫Kaloth感染了,它使Stukov的细胞重生,将他复活了。现在Stukov有自己的Zerg族群。

  Raynor知道这很难对付,但他记得这种感染对Sarah Kerrigan造成的影响。

  然而Artanis不是叫他来杀死Stukov的,而是去救他。Artanis的科学家们研制出了一种纳米科技的血清可以逆转感染的过程。Protoss已经跟踪Stukov来到了Braxis。

  Raynor希望Zeratul能来增援,但是他却得到了另外一个年老的Protoss战士的帮助:执政官(Praetor)Taldarin。他和Raynor曾经共事过。

  Braxis之上

  在Braxis的地面上,Raynor问起了Taldarin的过去。Taldarin岁数非常大,他当初和Adun并肩作战过,而且对Raynor有印象。Taldarin之所以能活这么久是因为他是第一个Protoss龙骑士,但是在龙骑士科技发明之前他不得不在静止细胞中度过了很长很长的一段时间。

  “Raynor的袭击者”派出了一名携带着血清的医生、一个机枪兵和一些幽灵特工,而Taldarin方有另外一些龙骑士,一个黑暗圣堂武士以及一个黑暗执政官。

  Protoss发现了Stukov在他们登陆点的东北角。他们没有找到Stukov,而发现了一个Zerg信号点,孢子菌落以及一个巨大的茧。

  新兵入伍

  在解决了一些Terran敌人之后,Raynor和Taldarin遭遇了一个人类。Raynor的机枪兵差点杀死了他,但是那个人说他会驾驶攻城坦克,而且知道从哪里可以搞来一台。

  新的虫群

  继续向Stukov的基地深入,Raynor和Taldarin发现了一个燃烧的Terran基地,可能是由于反叛Stukov而遭到攻击。这个已经被感染了,而且有一个被感染的Terran向他们发动了进攻,不过很快就被解决了。

  Taldarin告诉说Stukov现在还没有获得全部的力量,所以现在他的爪牙还很弱。Taldarin和Raynor遭遇了更多的Zerg,然后迅速的干掉了它们。

  那个“新兵”找到了一辆攻城坦克以及一个SCV,可以用来修理坦克。

  囚犯和叛军

  击败了更多的Terran和Zerg后,最终Taldarin发现了一个规模不大的Protoss基地正在着火。他在这里救出了一个Protoss执政官以及其他一些Protoss。

  他们遭遇了更多Terran,Raynor和Taldarin来到了一个叛军基地。他们救出了一个驾驶着诗寇蒂部队001哥利亚(Skullder Unit 001Goliath,与在Deceptions地图中的一样,而Mercenaries II中的Skuller Unit 004比这个高级)士兵。这个士兵一直想要靠一己之力解决Stukov的军队。他知道正面进攻是不可行的,但是有了Raynor的援助,他相信能取得胜利。然而Raynor却很不爽,是Raynor救了他,所以Raynor是老大。Taldarin对这一幕感到很有意思。

  继续前进,Raynor遇到了更多的哥利亚叛军。他们曾经为Stukov工作,但是Stukov现在是个疯子。(Aiur Templar:也就是说这些人可能就是玩家在Mercenaries II中扮演的那些唯利是图的雇佣兵)

  最终,Raynor和Taldarin来到了一个前哨站,这里已经被大大地加强了。他们从后面绕了进来,解决了这个地方。在里面他们发现了一个Protoss的静止细胞。Raynor和Taldarin从里面放出来了两个黑暗圣堂武士。这些黑暗圣堂武士决定对Taldarin效忠,直到最后一刻。

  传送区

  他们还发现了一个传送区,这里可以带他们进入基地深处。

  Taldarin建议说只用可以潜行的单位完成下一次人物,因为下一个区域中充满了炮兵。他们谨慎地前进,Raynor的幽灵特工和黑暗圣堂武士进入了传送区,来到了一个计算机终端前,这里控制着保安系统(包括反隐装置)。黑暗圣堂武士摧毁了通往Stukov入口的大门。

  他们继续前进,打头的士兵被第二层防御系统烧成了灰烬。依然有计算机终端控制着这个。由于火势不大,所以速度快的士兵可以冲过火焰,启动电浆护盾。然后Raynor,Taldarin和其他的士兵们启动了传送装置。

  现在Raynor和Taldarin更加自信了。虽然还有很多陷阱,但是都被他们解决了。

  意外的盟友

  他们在一个有士兵把守的基地中发现了一艘废弃的战列舰,这些士兵们遭到了围攻。这时可以用黑暗执政官控制大多数的敌军。

  再往前他们发现了一个Protoss静止细胞,这里有着几个囚犯,包括Bud Morris军士——他是一名喷火兵,而且是Raynor的老朋友——还有一个Protoss执政官。

  Morris说:“Jim,见到你真好,我就知道你回来。”

  执政官说他被抓之后一直很无能,现在他应该在战斗中实现自己的价值。Taldarin很赞同,说他一定会有所表现的。

  决战

  前面还有一个安检处,所以Raynor的军队只好偷偷来到电脑终端接触警戒。几次战斗之后他们就找到了Stukov。左面有一个星空站,在右面Stukov由很多Terran和Zerg包围,还有一个Nydus Canal(Aiur Templar:Zerg建筑,传送那个)。他周围有四个茧。

  当激战正酣的时候,四个茧中孵化出了四个Torrasque帮助Stukov作战。明显被感染了的Stukov喊到:“现在就让你们尝尝新的族群的厉害。干掉他们!”

  在战斗中,Raynor的医生对Stukov进行了处理并且注入了血清,重筑他的细胞。过程很迅速,直到完成之前Stukov都感到很糟糕。通知Raynor和Taldarin击败了Zerg。

  Stukov告诉Raynor他永远无法理解自己是怎么丧失理智的。然后他很乐意和Raynor以及Taldarin来到了星空站,因为Zerg已经开始对他倒戈相向了。一群Zerg从Nydus Canal中涌了出来,Raynor、Taldarin、Morris、Stukov以及驾驶着诗寇蒂部队001哥利亚的士兵冲进了星空站的运输机中,其他人都被Zerg追杀了。

  净化

  英雄们离开后,执政官(Praetor)Artanis开始“净化”Braxis。明显Stukov的族群吸收或者感染了星球上的所有Terran。

  从Protoss的航母(Carrier)上,一束巨大的光柱烧尽了整个世界。激烈的爆炸撼动了整个空间。

  他们用于毁灭这里的光束和在《星际争霸:Revelations》中用于Chau Sara的不同。也许因为Braxis只是个小的冰封世界,这种手段更为理想。

[NARRATIVE]

With the destruction of their base camp, and the subsequent arrival of the mysterious Cerberus unit, the Sons of Korhal withdrew their remaining forces from Chau Sara.

Unfortunately, a darker presence had taken root upon the planet: The alien xenomorphs had infested one of the Colony's most secure research facilities, the Flannum Installation. Now, spurred by the dire Cerberus Commander, you must enter into the installation and rescue any survivors.

Greetings again, Lieutenant. I know you're anxious for some answers about those creatures. Suffice to say they are the subject of current high-level research.

The installation has been compromised, and preliminary scanner sweeps indicate the area is crawling with hostiles. My Cerberus unit will handle the situation inside, but we require Alpha Squadron's assistance getting there.

Any other information is on a strict need to know basis.

EPILOGUE

Over the following weeks the Confederacy instituted a planet-wide lock down which restricted all travel and communication to and from Chau Sara. By imposing these harsh constraints, the Confederates hoped to contain the knowledge of the xenomorphs' existence.

Meanwhile, a barrage of Confederate propaganda ensure that the operation would only be remembered as a triumphant police action against the Sons of Korhal. The general populace would never suspect that the events on Chau Sara were an omen of darker days to come.

Oh, and by the way, intelligence has reported some scattered Zerg sightings in the area. If you encounter them, you may retaliate with whatever force you deem fit.

What the... It looks like the Zerg have infested this entire city! Why the hell hasn't anyone done anything about this! Schezar's gotta' be mad to be operating out here!

MENGSK
Commander, we've found Schezar's base. Almost looks like it's being protected by those spore colonies... I wonder what the hell he's up to.

Mission 2A: Playing with Fire

Mission Briefing:

Emperor Mengsk
Commander, we may have a problem. Intelligence reports that the base we destroyed wasn't Schezar's primary stronghold. We've received satellite images of a larger, heavily fortified base to the southeast. Now this may sound impossible, but we have identified a Zerg Cerebrate near the base. It looks like Schezar has found a way to control the creature and it's minions.

Obviously we cannot allow a second rate smuggler to have control of his own Brood. Your orders are to terminate Schezar's pet Cerebrate with extreme prejudice.

To furthur assist you, I am assigning two of our best officers to your commmand.

First, let me introduce, Tom Kazansky, the best Wraith pilot in the fleet.

I have heard much about you Commander, I look forward to working with you.

Emperor Mengsk
And second, this is Magellan, a cybernetic construct. Listen to him closely Commander, for he has one of the finest scientific minds in the Terran Dominion.

I am picking up a transmission on the hyper-waveform emitter...I am patching it in.

Terran Commander, I am Mojo, Praetor of the Protoss forces on Aiur. I have been captured by a group of Terran criminals under the command of one Allen Schezar. I require your assistance.

Do not attack the Zerg Cerebrate! Should you destroy the creature, its minions will run amok and overrun both of our forces, and your enemies will simply find another Cerebrate to dominate. If you help free me and my brethren, we will help you put an end to this madness once and for all.

Belay that request Commander. You have your orders, destroy the Zerg Cerebrate. After the danger is past, we may be able to assist the Protoss.

Thank you for coming to our aid, Commander. I realize that you did so at great risk to your own career. Schezar has trapped me in a Stasis Cell along with Danimoth and Warbringer. Only my telepathic powers allow me to communicate with you. Even now, Schezar is plotting how to control more Cerebrates.

Free me and my companions, then together, we will go to his stronghold on Aiur and deal with him.

Thank you for freeing me Commander, I owe you a debt of gratitude.

MOJO
Commander, we have found the Warbringer. It seems to be intact.

MOJO
The Danimoth is secured. The crew seems to be in good health.

Mission 3A: Assault on Aiur

Excellent work in destroying the Cerebrate, Commander. Now, Schezar and his henchmen should be easy to take out...

Aldaris
So, Terran Commander, you have decided to abandon my brethren to a criminal of your society? The Conclave has heard of your actions and has ruled that your lives are forfeit! Surrender now or die a painful death.

Emperor Mengsk
Surrender? I think not.

It is because of the Protoss that Schezar was able to control a Cerebrate. He has journeyed here to Aiur to plunder one of your temples to gain control of the technology that enables him to control the Cerebrates. We will do whatever it takes to destroy him and the temple.

Aldaris
Very well Commander, the Conclave will not rest until all Terrans have been expunged from Aiur soil, we will not....

Emperor Mengsk
View Screen Off.

Don't these guys ever shut up? Ok. Commander, it looks like the Protoss are going to get in our way. Here are your orders: Destroy the Protoss Temple. Once the Temple is razed, the Protoss will be unable to bring in reinforcements. You will then engage Schezar and his lackeys. Remember Commander, we are counting on you.

Mission 3B: The Final Blow

Mission Briefing:

Thank you for the timely rescue Commander. Now that I and my brethren are free we can assist you in your mission.

Schezar has built a base within the ruined walls of an ancient Protoss Fortress. Just west of his base, he has found old technology within one of our temples that enables his Ghosts to psychically control Zerg Cerebrates.

We must kill him and his pet Cerebrate.

Magellan
I have scanned the area surrounding Schezar's base and I am detecting an unidentified strain of Zerg.

It seems to be similar to an Ultralisk, but much more powerful...

Mojo
That must be the Torrasque!

This is worse than I feared. I have only heard of these powerful beasts. Many of my brothers have fallen prey to their powerful tusks. The stories say that even if the Torrasque appears to be dead, it will quickly be reincarnated and again be sent against the Swarm's enemies.

Tom Kazansky
Magellan, is there anything that we can do to stop the Torrasque?

Magellan
The Torrasque appears to have the same genetic signature as the Zerg Cerebrate. If we can destroy the Cerebrate, the Torrasque will no longer be a threat.

Mojo
Excellent!

That is the key, Commander. First we must eliminate the Cerebrate. Without the Torrasque to protect him, we should be able to march upon Schezar and prevail.

Game:

MAGELLAN
The Torrasque has been sighted Commander. Prepare our defenses.

MAGELLAN
We have defeated the Torrasque, Commander.
I estimate that we have only a few minutes until he is reincarnted.

Enslavers: Dark Vengeance

The original Enslavers missions occurred just after the fall of the Confederacy. The infamous pirate Alan Schezar employed Ghosts to enslave a Zerg Cerebrate and used its minions towards his own nefarious ends. Though Protoss and Dominion heroes banded together and put an end to his schemes by destroying his strongholds, Schezar himself was never found.

The events of Enslavers: Dark Vengeance take place just after the energies of the Xel'Naga temple scoured the Zerg from Shakuras. With the Zerg gone, the Protoss now take time to mourn over the loss of their fellow warriors on Aiur. It is widely rumored that a few wounded heroes may still live upon the ravaged Protoss homeworld. If they were to be rescued and transplanted into Dragoon walkers, the fallen heroes would still be able to fight alongside their brethren. Return to Aiur and rescue the fallen!

We have survived the onslaught of the Swarm, but as always our victory comes with a price. Many of our fellow warriors still remain marooned upon Aiur. Since the Warp Gate has been destroyed, we must travel to our ruined homeworld and rescue our wounded brethren. To facilitate their safe transport, we must place their remains within Dragoons.

Your task will not be easy, Executor. A number of renegade Zerg broods have taken root upon Aiur. You must recover the three stasis cells that hold the remains of our brethren and scour the nearby area of Zerg.

Episode 2: Hung Jury

Intro:

At the same time that the UED was launching their massive assault against the Dominion capital of Augustgrad, a small Protoss force was sent to the Homeworld of Aiur. Their mission of infiltrating the infested Zerg stronghold and securing the stasis cells that held three critically wounded Protoss war heroes went awry with the arrival of an unidentified Shuttle. The Dark Templar that exited the craft did not join in the celebration of the mission's success, but instead savagely attacked and destroyed two of the three stasis cells, killing the warriors who were held within. Fortunately, these villains were stopped before they were able to destroy the final chamber that held the great hero Eredas.

These traitors now await trial where they will be judged for their crimes against the Protoss...

Mission Briefing:

Eredas
I regret that I was unable to defend Aiur as I slept within my cryogenic chamber. I can scarcely believe that our homeworld is lost to us, let alone the fact that we have sided with the outcast Dark Templar. Fate has been whimsical of late.

Zeratul
These are strange times, Eredas. Stranger still, that we must now judge our own brethren for seeking to undo the peace that we have achieved.

Ulrezaj, you and your three cohorts have desecrated the holy Stasis Cells and murdered the fallen Protoss warriors which they housed. You have proven yourselves to be traitors against the Protoss race and you will be held accountable for your heinous crimes.

Crimes, Zeratul, are a matter of perspective. As far as we are concerned, killing high-born Templar is an act of righteous justice! Let the rulers of Aiur feel what it's like to be hunted and driven from their homes! Let them suffer as we Dark Templar have suffered at their hands!

Episode 3: Nemesis

Intro:

What has gone before...

At the same time that the UED was launching their massive assault against the Dominion capital of Augustgrad, a small Protoss force was sent to the Homeworld of Aiur. Their mission to secure three stasis cells that held the bodies of critically wounded Protoss war heroes went awry as several Dark Templar destroyed two of the stasis cells, and were captured mere moments before they could destroy the third. Led by the powerful and defiant Dark Templar, Ulrezaj, these traitors to Aiur were found guilty by the tribunal, but before their sentencing could be carried out an unidentified Terran force arrived. These invaders freed the Dark Templar from their imprisonment and nearly destroyed the Protoss base that housed them in the process. Ulrezaj and his Terran allies must be found so that the punishment required by the Conclave can be carried out.

Mission Briefing:

Zeratul
Executor, the traitorous Ulrezaj and his Dark Templar compatriots have escaped, but we shall not rest until they have paid for their crimes against our people.

In the chaos of their escape, Ulrezaj and his minions were able to steal one of our sacred Khaydarin Crystals. I do not know what possible use he could have for the Crystal, but we shall find and capture him nonetheless.

Mojo, one of our most experienced Scout commanders, will explain.

The Terrans that aided Ulrezaj's escape have a small base on Korhal. Although it is unclear as to whether or not the Terran Dominion is still in residence on the planet, we have dispatched Observers ahead of our fleet to find a suitable location to land our forces. However, we have been made aware of an unforeseen complication.

There appears to be a Zerg brood guarding the Terran encampment.

Executor, this is no longer a simple matter of retrieving escaped criminals. This alliance of Ulrezaj, Schezar and enslaved Zerg broods must be shattered now before it poses any further threat to our security. Depart at once and either eliminate the Zerg threat by recovering the Khaydarin Crystal, or destroy Schezar's base on Korhal.

Episode 4A: Desperate Measures

Intro:

What has gone before...

At the same time that the UED was launching their massive assault against the Dominion capital of Augustgrad, a small Protoss force was sent to the Homeworld of Aiur. Their mission to secure three stasis cells that held the bodies of critically wounded Protoss war heroes went awry as several Dark Templar destroyed two of the stasis cells, and were captured mere moments before they could destroy the third. Led by the powerful and defiant Dark Templar, Ulrezaj, these traitors to Aiur were found guilty by the tribunal, but before their sentencing could be carried out, a strike force commanded by the Terran criminal Alan Schezar arrived. These invaders freed the Dark Templar from their imprisonment and nearly destroyed the Protoss base that housed them in the process.

During his escape, Ulrezaj stole a Khaydarin crystal and -- through the powerful psionic emanations from that crystal -- was tracked back to a Terran base on Korhal controlled by the sympathizer Alan Schezar. The Protoss criminals were nowhere to be found at the base, but Schezar did have a sizable contingent of Zerg there, controlling them through means unknown. The Protoss fleet sent to attack the Terran base was faced difficult choice: either flush out the base commander by destroying the Terran Command Centers and force him to divulge where Schezar and Ulrezaj had fled, or track down and reclaim the stolen Khaydarin crystal.

If you rescued the Khaydarin Crystal then you should play scenario 4a.

If you destroyed the Terran Command Centers then you should play scenario 4b.

Mission Briefing:

Zeratul
Executor, the Judicator scholars have examined the Khaydarin Crystal you brought back from Korhal. What they found could destroy us all.

High Templar
The Crystal you recovered is not the same one that was stolen during Ulrezaj's escape from Shakuras. Somehow Ulrezaj has replicated the Khaydarin Crystals using a strange fusion of both Zerg and Dark Templar energies. It is possible that Ulrezaj could be using these crystals to seize control of Zerg Broods on Char, or some other nefarious scheme.

The false Crystals emanate strong psionic emissions, thus we will be able to use this crystal to home in on the locations of the others.

Zeratul
Our numbers are too few to mount a full scale assault against Ulrezaj or the Zerg, but we must still find a way to destroy the false crystals before Ulrezaj can use them. In order to destroy the Crystals, you must escort a Dark Archon to each Crystal. Only the psychic fury of the Dark Archon will be able to shatter these profane mockeries of our power.

Executor, you must gather an elite force to provide an escort for the Dark Archon. We will feint an attack nearby to draw the enemy's defenses away from the area, but the rest is up to you. A single Arbiter will recall your force onto the surface of the planet, and from there you must weave your way through the remaining defenders to reach each crystal. Our Observers will maintain their position near you, but no other reinforcements are available.

Executor, the Observers near you have been able to triangulate the locations of the five false Khaydarin Crystals.

ZERATUL
While we cannot send you reinforcements on this mission, the Dark Archon can force Zerg units to aid you. Use Mind Control wisely. It could be the difference between success and failure.

ZERATUL
Executor, our decoy attack was successful, but we had to disengage before too many Protoss warrior lost their lives. You have approximately one hour before the Zerg defenders return.

ZERATUL
Executor, the destruction of this Crystal has thrown this Zerg Hive Cluster into a strange state of hibernation. Destroying the other Crystals should have a similar effect on their nearby Hives.

Zeratul
Executor, I am aware that the High Templar find no honor in the prospect of assassination. However, the time has come to finally rid ourselves of an old enemy. To do so, you must rely upon the Dark Templar tenets of subterfuge and stealth.

The villainous Terran, Schezar, whom we have fought against in the past, has finally been found. We tracked him and his private army to an icy lair on the planet Braxis. Now we must settle our debt with him... in blood.

His combined Terran and Zerg forces are too strong for a frontal assault and that leaves us with a single dangerous option. You, along with a small covert force of Dark Templar, will be inserted as close to his base as we dare. After carefully making your way to his main compound, you must terminate him.

Some Protoss warriors chose to reclaim the stolen Khaydarin crystal and discovered that Ulrezaj had made five twisted copies of it. These warped Khaydarin crystals were tracked to the ash world of Char. On Char, a small assault group of elite Protoss warriors escorted a Dark Archon to each twisted crystal where the Dark Archon's psionic fury shattered the crystals. One can only guess what diabolic scheme he had planned for the crystals.

If you destroyed the warped Khaydarin Crystals then you should play episode 5a.

Other warriors elected to destroy the Command Centers and gain the location of the nefarious Alan Schezar from the base commander. A small group of assassins was then dispatched to Braxis with orders to terminate Alan Schezar. When the Dark Templar pierced the terran defenses and destroyed Schezar's Goliath, the unexpected happened and Schezar surrendered his forces and knowledge to the Protoss. Before Schezar was able to reveal what he knew, a large group of Zerg assaulted Schezar's base, but the combined Protoss and Terran forces were able to wipe out the nearby Zerg nests.

If you destroyed Schezar's Goliath and he joined your forces, then you should play episode 5b.

Mission Briefing:

Zeratul
It seems that while we were destroying the warped Khaydarin crystals, Ulrezaj and Schezar were hatching a second diabolical plot. They have positioned an orbital space station over Shakuras that emanates powerful energy waves which are disrupting our communications and draining our planet's energy shields.

Ulrezaj
I hope that my EMP device is not causing you discomfort, oh mighty Zeratul. I harbor no ill will towards you, specifically. I wish only to drive the foul Protoss of Aiur from our world. Their presence has brought nothing but misery and suffering to the Dark Templar, and now we coddle them to our breast. For so long as I draw breath, I will insure that Shakuras will remain free from their corruption.

Zeratul
I too, once held the same hatreds, but I have fought alongside our brethren from Aiur, Ulrezaj. They are as noble in spirit as we are. Set aside your anger and prejudice and accept that our race is finally united in peace.

Ulrezaj
The wounds they have inflicted upon us are beyond forgiveness, Zeratul, and such scars never truly heal. These Protoss will finally pay for their crimes in full. Schezar, commence the attack!

Schezar
Yes, Lord Ulrezaj! EMP device set to full power.

Zeratul
*sigh*

It seems that there shall be no compromises.

Executor, you must take your forces and destroy the EMP generator. The Templar inform me that the EMP generator only sends out pulses every ten minutes, so your troops will have time to recharge their shields after each activation. The EMP waves appear to have little effect on the shields of Ulrezaj's forces on his station, so you will be at a disadvantage until the generator is destroyed. You may very well find shield batteries of great help in your assault.

You must also find and destroy Ulrezaj's lieutenant, Schezar, and kill him. He has murdered many of our comrades. He must be made to pay for his crimes against our race.

ZERATUL
With the destruction of the EMP device, our shields will stay functional. All that remains is to find and destroy Alan Schezar.

With Schezar's death, the Terrans seem to have surrendered.

Episode 5B: Dark Vengeance

Finally, Alan Schezar, you stand before us. Your crimes against both our people and the Terrans are considerable. You know we cannot just..

Schezar
I know who I am, and I don't need any morality lessons from you. Ulrezaj paid me well to break him out of your prison and so I did. He was fairly reasonable for a Protoss, if not a bit fanatical. Yet, after he and his three cohorts merged together to become the Dark Archon, Ulrezaj's fanaticism became madness. He kept me surrounded by his Zerg and even rigged my Goliath to blow if I made so much as a move against him. Fortunately for me, one of your boys made a lucky shot and disabled the self-destruct mechanism before destroying the rest of my Goliath.

Zeratul
What does Ulrezaj plan?

Schezar
Well, my part of the plan was to bring the captured EMP device to the station that's orbiting Shakuras. Ulrezaj was going to disrupt your communications and shields with the EMP device, and use the chaos to drop his genetically enhanced Zerg upon Shakuras. He hoped that the Dark Templar would run and hide in their secret places, while the Templar from Aiur would be caught out in the open. Without the EMP device I imagine he will still follow though with the other half of the plan and drop his enhanced Zerg to run amok across your world.

Zeratul
He is mad!

Schezar
Yup, he sure is. He'll be bringing new Zerg onto his space station via a Warp Gate that's connected to his base on Char. Once the Zerg reach his space station he will be moving them to his genetics stations where the warped Khaydarin crystals will transform them into more powerful strains. They will be enhanced with so much Dark Templar energy, that they'll probably be able to resist the effects of the Xel'Naga temple on Shakuras.

Zeratul
You are beyond trusting, Schezar, but since our own forces are so diminished, we will need all the help we can get in order to stop Ulrezaj's mad plan. If you join your forces with ours we will merely banish you rather than execute you as many would like. I cannot imagine Ulrezaj would take you back into his fold after your betrayal here.

Schezar
True enough. My forces will join with yours for this assault and then I'll leave this blasted sector for good. I'm not feelin' very safe around here anymore.

Zeratul
Commence the attack, Executor. Bring the Khaydarin crystals back to your base to destroy them. Then when you have weakened the Zerg presence enough with the crystals' destruction, you can move in to destroy the Warp Gate itself.

En Taro Adun, Executor. I, Judicator Kizrath, have been asked to brief you on the circumstances surrounding your dispatch to Aridas. The High Council has entrusted this region to my command so that I may oversee a mission of the utmost importance.

In the age before creation, the Xel'Naga regarded an ancient artifact above all others for its immeasurable power.  Named the Argus Stone, it is thought to be located within the fabled city of Taledon. We believe our observers have uncovered evidence of Taledonian ruins here on Aridas.

A Terran expedition is also investigating the ruins.  They defile the site with their presence and therefore must be eliminated immediately.  Destroy the science building near the temple and then escort my ship to the beacon our observers have placed nearby.

This is only a conduit to the main ruins that lie on the other side of the river.
However, I am sensing Psionic resonations from the Xel'Naga artifacts at that site. Take me to the ruins and I will see to the humans myself.

We have located an area where a Zerg expeditionary force is fighting with the Aridians. While it is vital that the Zerg not gain a foothold on this world, both races will impede our continuing studies if left unchecked.

Guide a small group of four Zealots to either of two beacons: the one at the cave entrance where we suspect the Zerg Cerebrate to be located, or the one near the Terran maintenance duct - the heart of their infrastructure.  Either of these courses of action will aid us in our final appropriation of the Ruins.

We have posted observers around the edge of your base. It is recommended that you allow the Zerg and Terran forces to fight amongst themselves.

We are no closer to reaching our goal than when we first landed on this Terran-infested rock.

Our sensors indicate that a Zerg Cerebrate is located somewhere inside this cave. Based on our experiences against the Zerg on other worlds, subduing it will temporarily halt Zerg expansion in this area.

The height of the cave prevents our enemies from using any flying units. Unfortunately, the same holds true for us.

We were setting up a base in the southeast corner of these caves when the Zerg invaded the cavern and cut us off from our regiment.  Even our combined forces are vastly outnumbered! If you help us get the hell outta’ here, we’ll gladly throw our firepower in with yours.

While you have been successful in devastating the Aridian defenders, our warriors elsewhere on Aridas have not had the benefit of your leadership. The Aridians have managed to slip reinforcements past our comrades and a heavy contingent of Terran troops now lies between us and the Argus Stone.

While the Council knows this is a daunting task, their instructions are to fight onward. The Terrans keeping us from the Argus Stone must be eliminated. This will be your fiercest battle yet. May Adun be with you!

Our observers have detected the existence of a supply station orbiting Aridas.  This Terran reserve plays a crucial role in supplying reinforcements and weapons to the Aridian defenders and therefore must be destroyed.

We are preparing a deployment of forces to the platform. Though the initial fighting will be harsh, it should prove no great challenge for a warrior of your caliber.

You need only conquer the troops on the initial platform. There are other forces guarding the perimeter, but once the supplies are depleted they will no longer pose a threat.

It is now a certainty that the ruins on Aridas are the remnants of the fabled city of Taledon.  Soon, our destiny will be manifest as we take our rightful place next to the Xel’Naga as one of the greatest of all races.

Your strategic expertise has severed yet another string holding the battered Terran forces together. The defenses along the edge of the planet are crumbling since their supply lines have been cut.

There is but one final Aridian stronghold to breach before Taledon will be ours.

It is now evident that the Argus Stone lies within the ruins of Taledon. Terran forces are now converging upon the ruins for purposes unknown.  It is possible that they are also attempting to recover the Stone.

I have amassed a strike force on the perimeter of the Terran base.  We must breach the Terran forces and destroy the ancient temple. Once my flagship is over the ruins, I will be able to secure the Argus Stone.

Beware, the Terrans have an elite cadre of troops concentrated around the temple. Adun be with you, Executor!

Greetings, Commander.  I am Archimedes, Head Counsel to Emperor Mengsk. By his decree you and your battalion have been commissioned to aid me in a search for a legendary artifact, named in Protoss legends as the Argus Stone.

The ancient texts suggest immeasurable power for any being in possession of this artifact. I have spent years studying the Protoss and their relationship with the ancient race of beings known as the Xel'Naga.  The fact that the Stone is mentioned in both Protoss and Zerg mythologies shows how much the Xel'Naga revered it.

This assignment is crucial to the glory of the Dominion. Your first task as my guardian is to transport my scientists and I to a beacon within an important set of ruins on Aridas.  Your military presence is required, as there are Protoss and Zerg forces currently engaged in battle nearby.

Our intelligence indicates that taking on either side in this conflict would be suicide against such heavily entrenched forces. If we fortify our base, however, we should be able to hold them off until we can safely reach the beacon.

The preliminary studies we conducted at the ruins conclude that this planet was indeed inhabited by the Xel'Naga. Numerous ruin sites on the surface contain traces of their technologies.

It has come to our attention that a Zerg Cerebrate is using some of these ancient technologies to control a small Protoss tribe. This intriguing development must be explored. Join me at the location I’m uploading to your navigational computer.

Once you have arrived , there are two courses of action available to us:

Studying the Cerebrate could yield clues to help me better locate the Argus Stone. If my ship can be maneuvered over the Cerebrate, I will be able to capture it and study its secrets.

However, this course of action will not sever the link the Cerebrate has established with the Protoss. Hence, the aliens will remain allies and the Cerebrate’s capture will likely provoke a massive attack.

The other course of action is to kill the Cerebrate - possibly ending this alliance and weakening the alien defenses. Understandably, the thought of the two races united doesn’t sit well with the Aridians.

As military commander, I leave this strategic decision to you.

Commander, time is of the essence. You must help me push back the Zerg so that we can conclude our research. Unfortunately, there is little space to deploy defenses on this island.  Expansion will be necessary.

Commander, I wish I could offer you better news. Despite your victories, the Zerg broods are continuing to overwhelm our defenses across the planet, including our key science base, Station 12.

The work being done at this base is vital to our continuing search for the Argus Stone.  If Station 12 is lost, our recent progress will be set back considerably.

Bring at least four scientists to Hanger 3 where a shuttle will be waiting to transport them to safety.

The base is in a state of emergency lockdown right now, so there are two things you should be aware of:

First, only the civilian scientists can open the locked doors.  Secondly, there are a number of inactive security devices scattered throughout the base that can be manually reactivated by any of your troops.

It's important that this planet stay under human control until we've located the Argus Stone and extracted its secrets.  While I continue my research, you will need to shore up the Aridian defenses.

The Protoss have been using a space station as a staging ground for their attacks. The Aridians have been bombarding the station with nuclear weapons from the ground, but the Protoss continue to rebuild.

You will be provided with enough supplies and technology to finish off the Protoss survivors. Be careful, Commander, as this is a very large installation. While Intelligence indicates that some parts of the station may be undefended and without power, there is still a large amount of active Protoss opposition!

Your mission has successfully halted the Protoss offensive that was crippling Aridian defenses.  Unfortunately there is still much to be done here.

Zerg swarms have overrun one of our outposts located in a more desolate area of the planet. It's important that we control this region to prevent the Zerg from relocating their resources to other, more vital locations on Aridas.

Rebuild the damaged base and eliminate any Zerg forces in the area.

The Protoss have seized a dense vein of crystals used by the Aridians to supply their troops. You must help re-establish the supply lines to this key resource area.

A Command Center and a group of SCVs have been dispatched to rebuild a base in this region, but Protoss troops are now blocking the entrance to the canyon containing the minerals.

Take your regiment and eliminate the Protoss guarding the passage.  Once you've cleared the way and established a base, eliminate the Protoss threat to the area with extreme prejudice.

Commander, I must make this brief -  I was exploring a large cavern underneath one of our excavation sites when Zerg forces captured my vessel.  They have my ship heavily guarded in the middle of their base. They have fled with the Stone to a set of ruins on the far side of Aridas.  This region is heavily saturated with Protoss tribes, making an offensive difficult.

Destroy their defenses so we can initiate a land assault. Once the Protoss threat is eliminated, the Stone will be ours!

This battle could very well change the chronicles of history and alter the course of the war forever!

Greetings, Cerebrate, I am Zargil, Cerebrate of the Sennith Brood. The Overmind has chosen me to serve as your counsel.  I have been sent forth to guide you towards the greater destiny of the Swarm.

Long before the legacy of the Zerg, even before the creation of the Overmind, there existed the Xel'Naga: beings possessing powers so immeasurable, they were able to create entire races - such as our own.

A source of the Xel'Naga's immense strength was an ancient relic, the origin of which is unknown. If we are to achieve ultimate supremacy, then the power of this artifact must be harnessed.

We sense the Terrans are seeking this same relic, foolishly risking the disruption of powers they are unable to comprehend. You have been brought to Aridas to initiate our recovery of the artifact and shatter any attempts by the enemy to claim our prize. Destroy the Terran Battlecruisers that escort the scientist Archimedes, who is now in possession of the object we seek.

This act will initiate our passage to ascension.

We have detected that the Terran scientist Archimedes currently possesses the Xel'Naga artifact.  He has been maneuvering throughout the Terran bases that infest this planet. We must seek him out by seizing his comrades and extracting information from them.

The Overmind has located one of Archimedes' science facilities near a Xel'Naga ruin on Aridas. Wrest control of the building from the Terrans and bring it back to the beacon near our Hive cluster. One of our Defilers will extract the necessary information from its inhabitants.

Other Terran forces are sensed to be in the area, but they should prove no challenge to the might of the Swarm.

Zerg minions have uncovered Terrans in the process of constructing additional outposts. If we move in haste, we shall devour them before they become a threat to us.

While your offensive was successful, another of our Hives fell to the combined forces of the Dominion and the wretched Protoss.  As they now contest with one another, seize this opportunity to return the survivors to the Hive Cluster.

Gather the remnants of this shattered brood, unite their efforts, and reclaim the Hive cluster for the glory of the Swarm.

The Protoss are wreaking havoc upon one of our lairs on Aridas.  We must swiftly quell these infiltrators using the minions at hand.  We cannot devote additional resources, for it would disrupt our search for the Overmind's prize.

The previous Cerebrate, who failed in his task, has been removed. This area of strategic importance has almost fallen to the hands of the Protoss.  They would surely make haste to fortify an outlying settlement if we do not put an end to this siege.  Vanquish any hostile Protoss forces you may encounter.

Fear not, Cerebrate, your countless victories will not go unrewarded. We have located a complete settlement of Terran troops and research teams. You must conquer them and capture their Command Center with the attached nuclear silo.  This will allow you, young Cerebrate, to extract the precise location of the coveted Xel'Naga artifact.

Be wary, for these Terrans are especially resilient.

Information extracted from the Terrans within the infested Command Center informs us that the Xel'Naga relic is in fact the highly regarded Argus Stone.  The mere notion of the Swarm possessing such an artifact of rare and tremendous energies has stricken fear into the hearts of the Protoss and Terran forces.

The cowardly humans have now sought the help of our adversaries, the Protoss, in the vain notion that a united front could oppose the Swarm. You must show them that no alliance of races is equal to the might of the Zerg.

Eliminate all opposition! This cavern leads to the hideaway where the Argus Stone is safeguarded. Once these troops have been vanquished, the destiny of the Swarm will be within our grasp.

The time of our victory is close at hand.  We need only extract the Stone from within this Terran installation.

Although the treacherous nature of the Terrans has now caused them to betray the Protoss, we must not overestimate our sudden ascendance over the entrenched forces.

One of our strongest Defilers, Thakras, and the remnants of his brood are imprisoned in this complex. Although Thakras has failed in his assault, he has powers that will help us overcome the guardians of the Stone.

A group of infested Terrans with knowledge of the facility will aid you in your mission.  Take them to the control room east of the entrance, there they will be to access the computer stations that control the doors and security systems in this complex.

Retrieve what is ours so that we may return to Char and revel in the supremacy of the Swarm!

The Terrans' betrayal of the Protoss at the installation was but a feeble attempt to distract us from our ultimate purpose.  They have amassed a united convoy toward Char to intercept our escort of the Stone. The exodus of the Swarm cannot be interrupted!

We have established a base on a Terran barge within the convoy.  Eliminate all forces on this platform so that the Stone may safely reach its destination and our glorious rebirth may continue unchallenged.

Zargil
The Overmind is now in possession of the Stone.  Even now, its furious energies are resonating throughout the Hive Cluster on Char.  These energies are nurturing a being whose creation will bring forth the destruction and eradication of all opposition.

Even in the face of our ascension, our enemies continue their futile attempts to challenge the undisputed domination of the Swarm. A small band of Terrans have made their way to Char and are currently constructing a tactical base of operations in one of the planet’s more desolate regions.

Make an example of these pathetic interlopers, so that no other opposition would dare attack the Zerg homeworld.

The eradication of the Terran infiltrators was not enough to dissuade the headstrong Protoss from tempting a similar fate.  They seek to halt the birth of the Supreme Being.

Our long-time adversaries cannot be allowed to continue their infestation of this planet, lest we find ourselves under constant siege. This secondary threat must be eliminated.  Death to the Sons of Adun!

As we speak, the Supreme Being is approaching maturity within a growing Chrysalis in its final stages of metamorphosis.  The energies of the Argus Stone are nurturing the completion of this cycle.

For eons, the Xel'Naga lore predicted that a catastrophic war would precede the birth of a legendary being.  In this war, only one race would emerge triumphant. Our previous hostile encounters were but a precursor to a final united Terran and Protoss offensive that could decide the fate of the Swarm.

The location of the Chrysalis is the target of the enemy invasion.  It is time for these infidels to know the wrath of the Swarm, to realize the insignificance of their existence and to understand once and for all that their combined efforts to challenge the supremacy of the Zerg are futile!

Synopsis


The following events take place during the Terran Campaign: Rebel Yell. This is the story of an isolated conflict, centered within the Confederate system of Brontes, as the Zerg Swarms continue to encroach upon the core Terran worlds.
The solar system of Brontes hosts a scattering of sparsely populated mining communities. Part of the Confederation but far from the scene of battle, its planets’ militia is both few in number and poorly trained. The most far-flung of these planets is Brontes IV, the center stage of our adventure.

Terran Campaign

The story begins upon the small planet of Brontes IV. A unit is sent to investigate rumors of rebel activity. The threat proves genuine, and far more serious than predicted. Due to the war, however, support from neighboring military installations is unavailable. The local garrison must use its own meager resources to deal with the growing rebel threat.
Under the charismatic guidance of their leader, the rebels are rapidly gaining advocates. In no time, the Fist of Redemption (as the rebels have named themselves) spreads throughout the neighboring settlements. Feeling the sting of the Fist’s efforts, and regretting their prior decision to provide help, several outlying colonies form a Council of Inquiry to deal with the escalating situation. It is the Council’s decision to create a military body to quell the threat. Summoned from the surrounding colonies, these units are formed into an elite task force with the sole objective of eliminating the Fist of Redemption. The strike force is dubbed the Hammer.

Protoss Campaign

Meanwhile, far above the planet’s surface, a debate rages amongst the Protoss Conclave. Convinced that the Zerg will ultimately use humanity as the next rung on the genetic ladder, they witness the escalating situation on Brontes IV as the beginning of the end. Many support the destruction of the planet, hoping to eliminate the growing power of the Zerg. Others, however, believe in less drastic measures.
Sensing that time is of the essence, a small force is deployed from Tassadar’s main host. They are known only as the 7th Fleet. Intent on eliminating the threat, they destroy several infested planets before reaching the source of the disturbance. The surface of Brontes IV lay rife with infested colonies. Only a few scattered human encampments remain to fight against the Zerg and their followers. The 7th Fleet engages the Incubus Brood until a new enemy appears upon the horizon…

Zerg Campaign

The prolonged battle against Terran and Protoss has weakened the leader of the Cerebrate Auza, master of the Incubus Brood. With the assimilation of the rebel’s psychic leader, Atticus Carpenter, the link with the Overmind has even further strained. Only later does it become apparent that the Cerebrate Auza no longer exists. The indomitable will of Carpenter has triumphed, and a new cerebrate has been born out of the union between Carpenter and Incubus. Sensing the Cerebrate’s growing insanity, the Overmind creates a new cerebrate to deal with the insurgent menace. With the help of the Cerebrate Nargil, the Overmind’s youngest has been given one command. If they bleed, they shall die.



NEW TERRAN FACTIONS


The planet of Brontes IV has long been loyal to the Confederacy. In the wake of recent events, however, the political landscape has changed dramatically. As the larger Squadrons are deployed closer to the arena of battle, more and more of the local citizens have joined the call to arms, in order to protect them from the alien threat.

The Battalion stationed on Brontes IV is similar to any other military body stationed throughout the Confederation. Until the events of the following adventures, the Battalion was unremarkable from any other within the galaxy.

Upon grasping the threat of the Fist of Redemption, the combined governments of the Brontes system decide to form a Council of Inquiry to deal with the problem. It is decided that martial action must be implemented immediately, and thus the Council’s Hammer is formed. Comprised of the best of the best that Brontes has to offer, and under the leadership of Commander Frost, the task force is charged with eliminating all seditious behavior within the system.
Over the course of the first Campaign, the corruption behind the Council becomes evident. The Hammer (as they dub themselves), once freed from the yoke of the Council, seize their autonomy and work towards their original goal – the elimination of the Fist.

Little is known about the Fist of Redemption. Atticus Carpenter, a former Ghost of the Confederation, is rumored to be the ringleader of the revolt. In truth, the Fist is far more powerful than anyone could have realized. Led by the deluded genius of Carpenter, the Fist plans to bring about the evolution of all mankind.

The Zerg must evolve psychic awareness if they are to face the Protoss and emerge the victor. The Terrans pose as a potential source to this power. Atticus Carpenter, a highly psychic Terran, is a veritable gateway to their conquest.
A small division of Tassadar’s Fleet, the Seventh has been deployed to secure the Brontes System against the encroaching swarm. While the Enclave argues about the fate of the Terrans, Andraxxus guides his small group to victory.

NEW ZERG FACTIONS
Incubus Brood
COLOR – Teal
The Brood known as Incubus excels at the arts of conversion and consumption. Lacking the sheer destructive capacity of most of the larger broods, the Brood is most often directed towards smaller fringe colonies and settlements. Its powers of conversion enable the Zerg to learn of their enemies’ future intent, often before their infiltration is discovered.

Carpenter’s Brood
COLOR – White
Carpenter’s Brood has two goals, self-preservation and the accumulation of power. Many would have thought Carpenter to be mad with his aspirations of ultimate power. Regardless of what his critics may think of his sanity, he has accomplished his goal. If his ambition continues unchecked, it is only a matter of time before he challenges the Overmind.
The Brood has several advantages over its more numerous brethren. As it receives commands directly from Carpenter, it is faster to react to any immediate situation.

Jack Frost
Male Terran, age 38
Ex-Confederate Officer
Firebat
Cool as a cucumber, that’s Jack. Heralded as one of Brontes’ most brilliant tacticians, he wrote the book on colonial warfare. However, the patriotism of his youth has since turned to bitterness. He left active duty after witnessing the atrocities committed in the name of justice. Now he’s tired of fighting, and has begun to comfortably settle into his role as the retired local hero. Disillusioned, but with a heart of gold, he does his best to look out for his friends and fellow citizens. In times when he feels he’s needed, Jack’s a born leader. When the heat’s turned on, he just smiles and nods.

Charlie Vane
Male Terran, age 28
Colonial Scout
Brontes Battalion IV (later the Hammer)
Wraith Pilot
According to Vane there are two things you need in order to get by in life: good looks and a strong right hook. What’s more, he fancy’s himself a lady’s man, and of course it’s this sort of rakish charm that landed him in his current predicament; a petty-officer on a backwater Confederate planet.
He’s the consummate gambler and could outdrink a fish, but as Vane always says, it’s the vices of life that make it worth living. Ask him no questions and he’ll tell you no lies.

Tsuname
Male Terran, age 48
Confederate Lieutenant
Brontes IV Battalion Division (later the Hammer)
Not even dismemberment could keep him from active service. Both ill tempered and violent, the Goliath known only as Tsuname has served the Confederation for more than 20 years. Tsuname’s valor is matched only by his cruelty.

Black Morgan
Female Terran, age 36
Former Colonial Lieutenant
Whereabouts unknown
Former Dropship Pilot
In the day, Black Morgan was known to be one of the hottest Dropship pilots in the Confederation. There was no mission too deadly for her to undertake, although she made no promises to her passengers. One of her favorite passengers was Jack Frost. And, as the story goes, they shared many trips together. After many years of active service, Morgan vanished. Some say she retired to her hometown of New Dresdin, others say she fled as far away from Jack as possible.

Atticus Carpenter
Male Terran, age 38
Rebel Ringleader

Ghost (later Carpenter Cerebrate)
A former Ghost, little is known of Atticus Carpenter. His former superiors are dead, a parting gift from the prodigal son. His dossier labels him one of the most promising of the Brontes IV trainees. Exactly how and why his psychic dampers malfunctioned has been the source of much speculation.

Andraxxus
Protoss, age 314
High Templar
Executor of the Brontes IV Expedition
Andraxxus carries the weight of several worlds upon his shoulders. Loyal to a fault, he wavers in his vindication to indiscriminately destroy the Terran settlements of Brontes. Although it grieves him to commit such acts of terror, he has hardened his heart to the fate of the Terrans.

Syndrea
Protoss, age 323
Judicator
Advisor to the Brontes IV Expeditionary Force
Syndrea has always been held in high esteem by the ruling Conclave. She firmly believes the Terrans should be destroyed for the safety of the Protoss. She fears Andraxxus’ compassion for them, viewing it as a weakness that may be her people’s downfall. Because of this, she takes every opportunity to sow dissent amongst Andraxxus' followers. She hopes to shatter their vindication and convince them of the error of their ways.

Aedus/Xerxes
Protoss, age 13
Archon
The Archon Aedus/Xerxes exists solely for war. Although originally not of the 7th Fleet, it quickly followed after learning of Andraxxus’ mission. No one was willing to stop it.

Demioch
Protoss, age 272
Dragoon
Demioch is one of Andraxxus’ most trusted subordinates. He’s known and respected for his wise council. Although most often calm, he is inspired to great furies in the defense of his people. He does his best to guide his daughter’s political ascent, hoping to keep her closer to him.

Edullon
Protoss, age 103
Zealot
Edullon is renowned for her skill and valor. However, despite her father’s best intentions, she remains amongst the rank and file. Having proven herself fearless through many battles, it is only her tongue that keeps her from attaining higher authority. She will only accept those accolades she feels she has gained from her own merit, casting disdain upon those who would denote special treatment.

Auza
Zerg Cerebrate, age Unknown
Master of the Incubus Brood
Auza excels at enticement and conversion. Seemingly innocuous, the Incubus Brood stretches its slippery tentacles far behind enemy lines. Once deeply rooted, Auza’s enemies collapse in upon themselves. Direct conflict is most often a last resort. The main force of the Incubus consists of Defilers, Queens and, more often than not, Infested Troopers.



TERRAN 1: Lost Souls

Mission Briefing:

Bill Constantine:
At ease sergeant, I got a mission for you. A routine patrol was sent out two days ago and never returned. I need you to uncover the truth behind their disappearance.

Sergeant:
Wait a minute...why me? Search and rescue is left to the Confederate bigwigs. I'm just a scout. I'm the one who usually gets rescued.

Bill Constantine:
You're beyond rescuing sergeant. I understand this is not your area of expertise, but you're the only one I can trust with this delicate situation. With the threat of the Zerg looming ever closer, the Confederacy's resources are taxed to the utmost. I need to know what happened to that patrol. You gotta check it out for yourself and let me know firsthand. We can't risk having a public scandal. The populace is already panicked with the threat of the Zerg looming on the horizon.

Sergeant:
I'll see what I can do, but you know I do my best work solo.

Game:

Sergeant:
Footprints...we're on the right track. The patrol passed this way.

Marine:
Yeah, but how can you be sure it was them?

Sergeant:
The Zerg don't wear no stinkin' boots!

Sergeant:
Who the hell were those guys?

Marine:
I don't know sir, but they was wearing ìboots
